Conclusion

The 2026/27 Premier League season is underway, and the opening weekend has already produced important changes to club injury lists. Aston Villa remain without Amadou Onana as he rehabilitates from an ACL rupture, while Liverpool continue to manage the lengthy recoveries of Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni. Tottenham also have Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons unavailable following ACL injuries.

Hull City's injury list remains particularly extensive, with Eliot Matazo, Darko Gyabi, Jack Butland, Oscar Zambrano, Charlie Hughes and Joe Gelhardt among their established absences. Fresh concerns involving Semi Ajayi, Nobel Mendy and Lewie Coyle emerged after their opening victory over Manchester United.

Crystal Palace are waiting for further information on Chadi Riad following his knee injury at Everton, while Arsenal are managing the recoveries of William Saliba, Jurrien Timber and Bruno Guimarães. There is positive news as well. Cheick Doucouré, Jarrad Branthwaite, James Garner, João Gomes and Fabian Schär are among players who appeared in earlier injury updates but have now returned to competitive involvement or availability.

Manchester City's previous Rodri entry has also been removed because the midfielder completed a transfer to Barcelona on August 18. City are instead currently without Jérémy Doku, who is expected to miss approximately two to three weeks with a calf injury.

Matchweek 1 concludes on Monday, August 24, when Fulham host Chelsea. Further injury and fitness information will continue to emerge as clubs prepare for the second round of Premier League fixtures.

GreenBall360 will continue updating this Premier League injury list throughout the 2026/27 season with confirmed injury news, rehabilitation progress and player return information.

Premier League Injury Updates: Frequently Asked Questions

When did the 2026/27 Premier League season begin?

The 2026/27 Premier League season began on Friday, August 21, 2026, with defending champions Arsenal hosting newly promoted Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium. The opening matchday runs through Monday, August 24, and the final Premier League round is scheduled for Sunday, May 30, 2027.

How often will this Premier League injury list be updated?

This article will be reviewed every week or two weeks throughout the season. Major injuries, operations, rehabilitation developments and confirmed player returns may also be added sooner when clubs publish important medical information.

Are expected return dates always accurate?

No. Recovery times can change depending on rehabilitation progress, follow-up medical examinations, match fitness and whether a player experiences setbacks. Where a manager or club provides only an estimated timeframe, it is presented as an estimate rather than a guaranteed return date. If no reliable timetable has been announced, the player's return remains listed as unconfirmed.

Does “no official injury update” mean the entire squad is fit?

Not necessarily. Some Premier League clubs publish detailed medical information, while others provide most fitness updates through manager press conferences, training reports and matchday squad announcements. Where there is no reliable evidence that a player is currently injured, he is not added simply because he missed a match or training session.

Why are some players from the previous injury list no longer included?

Players are removed when there is clear evidence that they have returned to training or competitive action, or when they are no longer part of the club concerned. For example, Jarrad Branthwaite and James Garner have returned for Everton, João Gomes started Aston Villa's opening match, and Fabian Schär returned for Newcastle during pre-season.

Players who transfer to another club are also removed from their former team's injury section. Rodri, for example, is no longer listed under Manchester City following his August 18 transfer to Barcelona.

Are suspensions included in this article?

No. This tracker focuses on physical injuries, rehabilitation, and fitness-related absences. Suspensions and other disciplinary absences are not included.
