Lamine Yamal added some extra edge to Barcelona's 4-1 Catalan derby victory over Espanyol with a pointed social-media message after starring at Spotify Camp Nou.
The Barcelona winger finished the April 11, 2026 match with one goal and two assists, playing a major role as Hansi Flick's side strengthened their position at the top of LaLiga.

What Did Lamine Yamal Say After the Espanyol Match?
After the final whistle, Yamal posted photographs from the derby on Instagram alongside the message:
“Barcelona es blaugrana. Toca tragar, como siempre.”
The message translates broadly as “Barcelona is blaugrana. Time to swallow it, as always,” and was clearly aimed at city rivals Espanyol following their defeat.
The post added to the tension surrounding a derby that had already produced heated exchanges between players from both teams after the match.
Yamal Stars With One Goal and Two Assists
Yamal's contribution on the pitch was even more significant. He created both of Ferran Torres' first-half goals as Barcelona established a 2-0 lead inside 25 minutes. Espanyol responded through Pol Lozano in the 56th minute, keeping the contest alive at 2-1.
Yamal then scored in the 87th minute to restore Barcelona's two-goal advantage before substitute Marcus Rashford added a fourth in the 89th minute.
The final scorers were:
Ferran Torres: 9', 25'
Pol Lozano: 56'
Lamine Yamal: 87'
Marcus Rashford: 89'
The victory moved Barcelona nine points clear of Real Madrid with seven LaLiga matches remaining.

Barcelona Face Quick Champions League Turnaround
Barcelona's attention then shifted quickly to Europe. Yamal and Pedri both completed the derby, despite Barcelona having a crucial Champions League quarter-final second leg away to Atlético Madrid on April 14. Barça entered that game needing to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit.
For Yamal, however, the Espanyol match provided another standout performance: two assists, a goal, and a derby victory before Barcelona turned their focus to Europe.
